“That was a very big part that I wanted to have, and it wasn't possible before with the other WhatsApp service I used. But now I can build scheduling and communication flows with one Zernio API.”

Leon Staege
Founder, Moving Monkey®
The challenge
Leon Staege isn't a developer. He's a physiotherapist who started Moving Monkey® as a personal brand and grew it into a rehabilitation practice with two coaches and around 50 clients a month. Everything the practice does with clients — the training plans, the weekly check-ins, the feedback — runs through software he built himself with AI coding tools and help from a developer.
His problem started as a small one. He needed to schedule social posts.
“Everything I'd tried so far, Hootsuite and Agorapulse and Later and so on, all these tools had their limits or were becoming more and more expensive with a growing team.”

Underneath the scheduling problem was a bigger one. Moving Monkey® talks to clients on WhatsApp because that's where they already are, but that ran through a separate German WhatsApp Business service with per-seat pricing. The marketing calendar lived in Notion, while client voice messages went through a separate manual process in order to summarize the important details.
Four systems, one client relationship, and none of them talked to each other.
For a health provider, spreading client data across four companies' tools is also a compliance problem.
“As a health provider in Europe, in Germany especially, I need to own the data from a data privacy perspective.”

Why Zernio
Leon found Zernio while looking for a social scheduler. What kept him was what he noticed afterwards.
Two things made it the pick. It was API-first, so he could plug it into the software he was already building rather than working around a closed dashboard. And it was European, which mattered for a German health provider who wants to know exactly where client data lives.
Then Zernio opened up full WhatsApp API support, making the second tool unnecessary.
“That was a very big part that I wanted to have, and it wasn't possible before with the other WhatsApp service I used. But now I can build scheduling and communication flows with one Zernio API.”

What they built
Because Zernio is API-first, Leon didn't have to work inside someone else's dashboard. He could build whatever Moving Monkey® needed directly into the software he already owned, and keep extending it as new needs came up.
“It's an API-first social media scheduling and communication tool that you can plug into your system in whichever way fits you. Fast support, and very easy to develop and build around. To customize whatever you need.”

Two apps came out of that freedom, both running on the same Zernio integration.
The first is an internal CRM. It holds contacts, lead management, and the marketing calendar Moving Monkey® used to keep in Notion. Social scheduling runs through Zernio's Posting API from inside it. A WhatsApp button on the Moving Monkey® website routes to the CRM too, catching inbound messages from people who want a question answered before they book a call.
The second is the client-facing app, on iOS and Android, where clients get their training plan and their weekly feedback. The messaging behind it runs on Zernio's WhatsApp inbox, and this is the part clients actually notice, as they don't install anything new to talk to their coach.
“They can just use their normal WhatsApp, like they're used to in their everyday life. They don't need another app, another tool to communicate with us.”

Behind that same thread, Leon used webhooks to automate the two things that used to be manual: booking confirmations and weekly feedback.
When someone books or buys a program, a confirmation goes out over WhatsApp automatically. And the feedback pipeline now runs itself: the coach records the video, uploads it, and the link reaches the client the moment the upload finishes, no ten-minute detour required.

The voice notes are where Leon went furthest. He wired the Mistral API into the inbox himself, so an incoming voice message arrives already transcribed and summarized: no download, no format conversion, no manual step.
On top of the inbox, he built the interface his coaches actually needed instead of the one a vendor decided on. Read and unread states, a snooze button, program details next to the conversation, so a coach can see when the last check-in happened without leaving the chat.
“I could only build it because I had the Zernio API. Communication got easier, faster, cheaper. And I can focus much more on the client experience.”

The results
- ·Feedback delivery saves roughly six hours a week. With 50 clients getting weekly feedback, manually sending each one took 5–10 minutes. Now the link is sent as soon as the coach finishes the upload.
- ·A five-step manual process is gone. No more downloading, converting, transcribing, summarizing, and copying voice notes into client records. Now the summary is ready when the coach opens the WhatsApp inbox.
- ·New clients get a WhatsApp confirmation within seconds of paying, in the same thread where they may have first contacted the coach. Onboarding can now be automated and refined however he wants, with offboarding already next.
- ·Client health data no longer passes through four separate companies. The scheduler, WhatsApp Business service, Notion, and transcription stack are now combined into one system Leon owns and builds on the Zernio API.
- ·The setup is built to double capacity without adding new tools. Moving Monkey® currently serves around 50 clients a month across two coaches, about 25 each. The goal is 50 per coach using the system already in place.
